GRAMBLING, La. (AP) -Rick Duckett, an assistant coach at South Carolina for the last six seasons, was hired Thursday as the men's head coach at Grambling State University.Duckett had been as assistant to Dave Odom at South Carolina since 2002. Odom retired following the 2007-08 season.

Rookie driver Viso crashes in Indy 500 practice
Rookie driver E.J. Viso has crashed during practice for the Indianapolis 500.The 23-year-old Venezuelan had completed only one lap early in Friday's practice and was still building speed when he lost control going into the third turn, struck the outside wall with the rear of his car and spun across the track.

GM Martin reaches deal with Panthers
Jacques Martin has reached an agreement to remain with the Florida Panthers as general manager through the 2011-12 season, the team said Friday.Martin was stripped of his duties as head coach last month but said he would stay on as general manager. He said then the two jobs were too much for one person.

A new IRS filing shows Chicago's Olympic organizing committee raised more than $32 million during its successful effort to be selected the American bidder for the 2016 Summer Olympics.The Chicago 2016 Exploratory Committee released its IRS filing on Friday. The filing covered the period from July 2006 to June 2007.
