Chat Transcript Part ll (10-08-08)

Shaggy3391: How bad is the loss of Askew? Were we a real possibility?

Andrew Bone: Alabama is still in great shape with several linebackers. Askew was a middle linebacker type, and Alabama has Nico Johnson committed. [Askew committed to Tennessee.]

InSabanWeTrust9: AB whats the latest with massie who leads?

Andrew Bone: He is a tough player to reach due to enrolled at Hargrave. An official visit to Tuscaloosa is expected.

wwilson33: Has Bama officially offered Eddie Lacy and where does jamaar travis stand with tide

Andrew Bone: Lacy reports an offer from Alabama, and the staff is actively recruiting him. Travis is considering Auburn and Alabama. Auburn is considered the team to beat.

gunnelschris: Do you think Croom would have to be fired for us to turn Fletcher Cox?

Andrew Bone: Alabama is still in the mix. The staff would probably like to turn Cox and Montrell Conner from Miss State.

InSabanWeTrust9: out of our OL commits who will play center?

Andrew Bone: I don't see any of the current commitments playing center. Possibly Steen, but I see him more as a guard.

Shaggy3391: Who are some big time DE's in 2010? Name someone who is can't miss and Bama has to pull in...

Andrew Bone: Craig Sanders from Ariton will probably land at the top of Alabama's list. He will likely decide between Bama and Florida.

gunnelschris: What do you think of what you've seen of Fluker as an OT?

Andrew Bone: I think Fluker is a dominating OT. He has really made a big improvement from last year.

gunnelschris: Have you seen Craig Sanders play yet, and if so, what are your thoughts on him?

Andrew Bone: I haven't seen him at a game, but I have watched film. I think he is very quick off the line and very aggressive. He is a terrific athlete and has great speed.

bamabower: Have you anything if any of the coaches are looking at Trent Hardman from Fairview

Andrew Bone: The coaches are looking at Hardman and invited him to a few games. He is interested in Alabama and hearing from several programs.

InSabanWeTrust9: will bama take any other safetys and who?

Andrew Bone: The staff would like to add another safety to the class. I would watch for Jonathan Scott. He will take an official visit for the Ole Miss game.

wwilson33: Do you see any big surprise coming closer to signing day ? Who of our commits right now have academic work ahead

Andrew Bone: I think the only major surprise that could, could happen is Rueben Randle. He is considered an LSU lean, so a big surprise if the Tide staff turned him.

wwilson33: Is Bama looking at any te's for this class and if so who and what are their interest levels ?

Andrew Bone: A few tight ends include Dan Hicks from Oxford and Juco TE David Rue from East Miss. Justin Jones from Ga. is back on the market, and Alabama appears interested as well.

Shaggy3391: AB it seems that everything I read from Richardson, it seems more and more like he is building some close relationships with Bama recruits and is solid on his commitment. Your thoughts?

Andrew Bone: He is certainly building strong relationships with the Tide players. He has been to a couple games. He plans to take other visits, but I see him sticking with his commitment to Alabama.

InSabanWeTrust9: any 5 stars for next year bama leads for?

Andrew Bone: Not sure who will rank as a five-stars just yet, but Alabama is certainly in the mix for guys like Markeith Ambles, Craig Sanders and Terrence Broadway.

wwilson33: Where do we stand for olivier vernon

Andrew Bone: Alabama will receive an official visit. They would like to add a speed rush, "Jack" linebacker type to this class.

tuckerterry: Is William Campbell interested in bama?

Andrew Bone: Not really any interest. I have spoken with several close to the situatuon. He is likely headed to Mich. or LSU.

Julio Jones: Do you think Dre will pull the trigger before signing day?

Andrew Bone: As much as Dre Kirkpatrick visits Tuscaloosa you would think a decision could happen before signing day. He will likely take all five visits and possibly decide a few days before NSD.

tuckerterry: What's the latest on Ronnie Wingo Jr.

Andrew Bone: He will take an official visit to Alabama in December. Alabama is right at the top of his list.

tuckerterry: what's the latest on Chris Bonds?

Andrew Bone: Bonds is shying away from recruiting attention. He will not do anything until after the season. Alabama expects to receive an official visit.

thomasas06: Would you consider Bama the leader for Terrance Broadway, and is he a dual threat guy, strong arm?

Andrew Bone: I think Alabama is considered the early front-runner. He has a great arm and can also run.
