AHSAA GAMES

Class 6A

Minor (6-0) at Hillcrest (5-1)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: This is a premier Region 5 game between two good football games. This one could come down to turnovers.

Suttles’ pick: Minor 27, Hillcrest 26

Northridge (2-4)

at Jess Lanier (3-3)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Jess Lanier put a half-time scare into Tuscaloosa County last week. The Purple Tigers ran the wishbone with star wide receiver Brandon Heavens on the sideline with an ankle injury. He could be back this week.

Suttles’ pick: Jess Lanier 29, Northridge 24

Jackson-Olin (0-6)

at Paul W. Bryant (0-6)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Both teams are searching for their first win. Jackson-Olin has put up some points in its losses, while Paul W. Bryant has been shutout twice this season.

Suttles’ pick: Jackson-Olin 20, Paul W. Bryant 15

Hueytown (4-2)

at Tuscaloosa County (6-0)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: The Wildcats can taste a Region 5 title and with a win tonight would virtually have it already locked up. Moving the ball on Tuscaloosa County’s defense is difficult.

Suttles’ pick: Tuscaloosa County 42, Hueytown 22

Class 5A

Fairfield (5-1) at Central (5-0)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: If the Falcons win tonight, Central is in the driver’s seat for a Region championship. Both teams are undefeated in region play, with Fairfield’s only defeat coming to Class 6A Jess Lanier.

Demopolis (2-4)

at Monroe County (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Demopolis got its second win of the season last week against Selma. They start a winning streak tonight.

Suttles’ pick: Demopolis 30, Monroe County 17

Class 4A

Holt (2-4) at Bibb County (5-1)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: The Choctaws lit up Southside-Selma for 45 points last week and Holt couldn’t stop Livingston.

Fayette County (5-1)

at Midfield (6-0)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Another big region game on tonight’s slate. Fayette County’s only loss was to 3A Gordo, while Midfield has a win over a 6A school.

Jemison (5-1) at Greensboro (5-1)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Jemison beat Calera by two points. Greensboro lost to Calera by 21.

Southside Selma (0-6)

at Livingston (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Livingston got into the win column last week and tonight will earn its second ‘w’ of the season.

Aliceville (2-4) at Northside (0-6)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Northside is struggling mightily this season. Unfortunately for the Rams, it will continue to tonight.

Sumiton Chrisitan (0-6)

at Gordo (4-2)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Sumiton Christian will collect its seventh loss tonight.

Suttles’ pick: Gordo 27, Sumiton Christian 14

Cordova (5-1)

at Greene County (4-2)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Cordova continues to sets its sights at a second straight state championship. Greene County Bruce Jackson, former Central defensive coordinator, has Greene County playing good football.

Sumter County (3-3)

at West Blocton (3-3)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: West Blocton can win this game. Sumter County can win this game. Who wants it more?

Winfield (1-5) at Carbon Hill (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: The Winfield Pirates should get its second win tonight.

Suttles’ pick: Winfield 17, Carbon Hill 6

Class 2A

Pickens County (5-1) at American Christian Academy (6-0)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: This might be the biggest game in West Alabama tonight. Both teams score and score a lot. Pickens County averages 44.5 a game and ACA scores 43.5. This is not an easy game to pick.

Francis Marion (1-5)

at Goshen (2-4)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Goshen is coming off back-to-back wins against Pike County and Hatch. Francis Marion got a 43-14 win against Highland Home.

Hale County (1-5) at Isabella (4-2)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Isabella lost to Pickens County 33-7 last week, while Hale County was beaten by ACA 42-6.

at Lamar County (5-1)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Addison lost its first three and then turned it around with a three-game winning streak. The streak ends tonight.

Falkville (3-3) at Sulligent (4-2)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Sulligent suffered a setback to Winston County last week, but the Blue Devils should rebound this week.

Maplesville (4-1) at Akron (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Maplesville lone defeat came last week to a strong Linden team.

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Hackleburg throttled Lynn last week 48-0. Berry hasn’t scored less than 26 all season.

at Holy Spirit (5-1)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Tommy Haley-Ricks is the main attraction for the Lions, while the Titans employ the team approach.

John Essex (1-5)

at Autaugaville (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Both teams enter after winning their first game of the season. John Essey knocked off J.F. Shield and Autuagaville beat sunshine.

Linden (6-0) at Sunshine (1-5)

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Buoyed by its beat down of Maplesville last week, Linden checks in ranked No. 4 in the state poll. No one has come close to shutting down the rushing duo of Maurice Tate and Shantrell Braxton.

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: South Lamar comes in winner of its last two games against Parrish and Hubbertville. Meek collected its second win against Marion County.

Open Door at Restoration

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Restoration beat Sumter Academy 18-6. Open Door lost to Jackson Academy 21-6.

at Sumter Academy

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Cornerstone rolled up 47 points in its last game, while Sumter Academy had 6.

Meadowview Christian

at Pickens Academy

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Pickens squeaked by Kingwood 23-22 last week while Meadowview rolled Prattville 63-40.

Southern Academy at Monroe Academy

When: 7 p.m.

Quick hitters: Southern Academy moved to the top of the AISA poll after beating Morgan Academy 14-7 in overtime. Monroe Academy knocked off top-ranked Bessemer Academy last week 27-20.
