University of Alabama forward Alonzo Gee said Thursday that he would remove his name from the NBA draft pool and return to school for his senior season.

“I learned a lot from the draft process and I appreciate everyone’s support,” said Gee in a release from the UA Sports Information office. “I have decided to return to Alabama and look forward to helping our program reach our goals for the 2008-09 season.”

Gee did not receive an invitation to the upcoming NBA Pre-Draft camp in Orlando. Two other Crimson Tide players who are testing the draft, forward Richard Hendrix and point guard Ronald Steele, were invited to the camp and will make a final decision regarding their future in early June.

“Alonzo has told me he is returning,” Gottfried said. “Richard and Ronald were invited to the camp and plan on going.”

Sixty-four players were invited to the camp, which begins on May 27.

Gee averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game for Alabama as a junior in 2007-2008.
