TUSCALOOSA – For the first time school history, the University of Alabama will end a season as the nation’s No. 1-ranked men’s golf team.

Alabama remained in the top spot for the fifth and final Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the spring season, which was released on Wednesday.

Alabama earned 20 of the 22 first-place votes.

Alabama, coached in his sixth season by Jay Seawell, has won six team tournament championships and produced four different individual champions out of its 10 tournaments played this season.

The Crimson Tide is currently in Columbus, Ohio, where, it begins play Thursday as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Central Regional hosted by Ohio State at its Scarlet Course.

Alabama is seeded third overall in the NCAA tournament. The top 10 teams from each 27-team regional will advance to play for the national championship May 28-31 in West Lafayette, Ind.
