Alshon Jeffrey, Scout.com 300 wide receiver from St. Matthews-Calhoun County, S.C., was one of three teammates who visited for the day. Jeffrey received an early offer from Alabama and visited Tuscaloosa for the first time. The USC Trojans sit at the top of the list for Jeffrey's signature.

'It's good down there at Alabama,' Jeffrey said. 'They have a great atmosphere. It's different down there. They have a real nice crowd, people who care. It's a fun thing. Right now Alabama is No. 2 on my list.'

Clint Moseley, from Leroy High School, is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback prospect who recently received his first offer from UAB. Central Florida is giving strong consideration and may be the next school to extend an offer. The Alabama coaching will take a closer look and evaluate during summer camp.

'They [UA coaches] told me they really want to see me throw in person,' Moseley told Chris Sherman of ScoutSouth.com. 'That it is very important that I get back to their camp because they really want to see me live. They said all the coaches are really interested in seeing me throw the ball.'

Moseley passed for 2,700 yards with 22 touchdowns and rushed for 537 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2007. The in-state prospect grew up a big fan of the Tide and enjoyed the A-Day experience.

'I also thought the crowd was awesome,' Moseley said. 'I was expecting it to be packed out from last year, and even though it wasn't quite as many people, it was still like game day around the stadium.'

Darrius McMullin, defensive tackle from Hoover-Spain Park, is beginning to receive a lot more attention from college coaches. He recently received his first offer from Central Florida and offers from other schools are expected. The 6-foot-2, 280-pound prospect made 68 tackles with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his junior season.

'The visit went pretty good,' McMullin said. 'I couldn't really watch the game too much. People kept asking all the recruits for autographs the whole time. I talked to Coach [Kevin] Steele a little bit. He was just asking what I was up to. He said he should be coming to Spain Park during the spring to watch spring training.'

Jonathan Edwards, a hometown cornerback from Central High School, was an All-State selection during the 2007 season after recording 15 interceptions and 64 total tackles. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound prospect has not received any offers as of yet, but is receiving interest from Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss.

'The visit to Alabama went real good,' Edwards said. 'I had a good visit. I talked to Coach [Joe] Pendry while I was there. He was telling me to stick with them through the process and everything would work out. I thought the team looked pretty good.'

Numerous high school recruits had to stay home and miss the Crimson Tide's A-Day Game on April 12 due to the ACT testing date, which probably also played a big factor in other families not making it to Tuscaloosa.

Chad Bumphis, wide receiver from Meridian, Miss., didn't attend the Tide's A-Day Game but took an unofficial visit last Wednesday to the Capstone. Bumphis is one of the region's top athletes at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds. Bumphis listed Florida, LSU and Mississippi State as favorites prior to his time in Tuscaloosa.

'I like their campus,' Bumphis said. 'Everything is real nice. The academic center is real nice. Their weight room is huge. Alabama is right up there with them [Florida, LSU, Mississippi State]. They have great tradition. I liked how Coach [Bo] Davis said they were going to use me. I think I could play real soon if I went there.'

The biggest news of the week came last Thursday when Kellen Williams, offensive tackle from Snellville-Brookwood, Ga., gave a commitment to Alabama. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect collected numerous offers, including Boston College, Florida State, Wake Forest, Maryland and N.C. State. He received the desired offer from the Tide last Wednesday and committed the following day.

'It has been a childhood dream of mine to come play at Alabama,' Williams said. 'I told them I would come play any position they wanted me to play. I met all the coaches once. I got a good vibe from them. Coach [Nick] Saban seems like a great guy to play for. He is going to bring a national championship back to Alabama.'
