Baseball team hosts two non-conference games before SEC series with Vols

TUSCALOOSA | Alabama returns to Sewell-Thomas Stadium for a pair of midweek games against Mississippi Valley State and Southeastern Louisiana, before going back on the road in Southeastern Conference play this weekend at Tennessee.

Alabama will host Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday and then hosts Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday.

Freshman shortstop Josh Rutledge extending his hitting streak to eight games with a base hit in the third inning at LSU on Sunday. During the streak, Rutledge is batting .400 (14-for-35) with five runs scored and five RBIs.

The Tide will likely send junior right-hander Casey Kebodeaux (2-4, 5.50 ERA) to the mound against Mississippi Valley State. The Delta Devils have not named a starter.

Junior left-hander Miers Quigley (3-1, 3.37 ERA) will make his fifth start of the season Wednesday night against SE Louisiana. He has won back-to-back starts against Jacksonville State and UAB the past two weeks. In his last three outings, Quigley has allowed only one earned run (0.46 ERA) in his last 192⁄3 innings. SLU will counter with junior right hander Chris Cappo (1-0, 2.35 ERA).
