TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama is sending two athletes — sophomore All-American Aaron Fleshner and freshman Catalin Cosma — to the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, which begin today at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

“Both Aaron and Catalin give us good scoring potential going into this weekend,” Alabama coach Eric McIlquham said. “Aaron is one of the nation’s top divers and he is experienced at this level having earned All-American honors in the three-meter and platform events last season. And Catalin is one of the nation’s best young distance swimmers.”

Fleshner won the Southeastern Conference 3-meter diving championship earlier this season and was named SEC Diver of the Week three times during his sophomore season.

Cosma finaled in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyles at his first SEC Championships. He was fourth in the mile at the SEC Championships with a time of 15:02.12, which ranks him sixth all-time for the Crimson Tide.
