TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama gymnastics team dropped a spot to No. 6 in the rankings this week despite posting a season-best score of 197.225 in last weekend’s home victory over Florida.

The Crimson Tide is sixth with a regional qualifying score of 196.42. The regional qualifying score is calculated with a formula that requires at least three road-meet scores in the average.

Three-time defending national champion Georgia is ranked first, with Utah second and Florida third. Michigan is fourth, while LSU -- a team Alabama defeated in Baton Rouge, La., two weekends ago -- moved up to fifth ahead of the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is ranked sixth on floor exercise, eighth on uneven parallel bars and ninth on both vault and balance beam.

Individually, Alabama’s Kassi Price is ranked 12th in the all-around. Price is also ranked third on bars, with Price and Morgan Dennis tied for 19th on floor exercise. Freshman Kayla Hoffman is tied for 13th on vault.

The Tide will compete against four teams ranked in the top 16 this weekend when it travels to the West Coast for two meets. Alabama will visit No. 9 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., on Friday, where the Tide will also compete against No. 16 Nebraska in a tri-meet. On Sunday, Alabama will visit No. 8 UCLA, with No. 12 Arkansas and unranked Cal State-Fullerton also competing in a four-way meet.
