It’s crazy to think this will happen. However, this has been the craziest college football season on record (see Appalachian State and South Florida) so why not expect one more episode? It is hard to describe just what magnitude of an upset this would be. (It would offend earthquake victims to mention the Richter Scale.)

Christopher Walsh

Alabama 23,

Auburn 20

On paper, the Tigers are probably a better team because of their defense. They’re home, they’ve won five in a row, and are rested after having last week off. But if you kick a team when it’s down enough, sooner or later it comes back with a vengeance. It’s nothing more than a gut feeling, but this could be that week.

Auburn 17,

Alabama 14

After years and years of picking Alabama — and being wrong more than right — I have decided to use the Magic 8-Ball on my desk for this year’s pick. It says: “It’s possible” John Parker Wilson will play to his potential, “Outlook cloudy” on the weather, “Count on it” for Nick Saban to get a 15-yard penalty and “Forget it” on Alabama winning the game.

Andrew Carroll

Auburn 27,

Alabama 13

The loss to ULM seems to indicate that this Alabama team is unraveling. The running attack can’t convert on short-yardage plays. The passing game is prone to devastating turnovers or sacks. Auburn has had its share of problems this season, but the Tigers are playing at home and they will capitalize on Alabama mistakes just as they did in their past five.

Michael Southern

Auburn 23,

Alabama 16

Alabama may have hit rock bottom with last week’s loss to Louisiana-Monroe, but the road to redemption won’t begin in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Even an overconfident Tommy Tuberville will not be enough for Alabama to stop the November slide. The Crimson Tide will play with emotion, but the Tiger defense will be just too much.

Edwin Stanton

Auburn 28

Alabama 14,

Auburn’s defense is very good and the Tide offense is not very good, so it doesn’t look good for Bama. The Tigers have had a stranglehold on the Tide the last five years and it’s going to take more than having Nick Saban on the sidelines for the Tigers to give up their Iron Bowl reign. The only thing Alabama can do is try not to make it a Tiger rout.

Harold Stout

Alabama 24,

Auburn 21

Everything seems to point just one way in this game ... Auburn. But that’s the very time to stop and give it another thought. Alabama has played its best in the biggest games. And regardless of the circumstances, this is still a big game. It’s time for Auburn’s win streak to come to an end. And who better to bring that about than a kicker named Tiffin.
