T-News staff picks

Cecil Hurt
Alabama 29, Georgia 28
For the first time in Tuscaloosa News’ picks history, I had to close the area around my desk while typing this pick. I was worried about Georgia spies. While this is my “official” (and instantly recognizable) pick, it could be that I am using the 1994 score as a decoy and have another pick hidden away somewhere.
Christopher Walsh
Alabama 23, Georgia 20
This is a coin-toss game, but the most important statistic will be time of possession, especially with Alabama coming off a physical game against Arkansas. The real question is can the Bulldogs throw on the Tide defense? Probably not enough, especially since this is Georgia's first road game of the season and Bryant-Denny will be loud.
David Wasson
Alabama 28, Georgia 17
I wrote my pick last, and was flabbergasted that the gentleman below me picked the Tide as well. That momentarily made me think Andrew was subersively conning the Bulldogs into a manhood-questioning frenzy (Hi, Pat Dye!), but then I realized that Steve Spurrier’s bunch beat Georgia. Nick Saban is a better coach than to lose today.
Andrew Carroll
Alabama 24, Georgia 21
Alabama won last week, although Nick Saban wasn’t happy with two holding penalties and two turnovers. Georgia can’t run like Arkansas, but the Bulldogs have a better passer in Matthew Stafford. Georgia has allowed only 91 yards rushing per game, so John Parker Wilson and the passing attack will have to lead the Alabama offense.
Michael Southern
Alabama 31, Georgia 20
Alabama is still recovering from its physical and emotional battle with Arkansas, so this is a perfect time for Georgia to catch the Crimson Tide. Expect Georgia to come out aggressive against a healing Tide defense, but the Bulldogs won't be the physical challenge that Arkansas presented. The offense will put this one out of reach late in the second half.
Edwin Stanton
Alabama 28, Georgia 14
I think Alabama got a big boost of confidence with last week’s victory and it will carry over into today’s game. The Tide defense faces a different challenge going from an potent running game (Arkansas) to a more passing oriented offense in the Bulldogs. John Parker Wilson and the Tide offense seem to be finding their rhythm.
Harold Stout
Alabama 28, Georgia 21
I learned one important thing from last week’s game. If the score is close as time is running out, this team has the confidence to put the game away. John Parker Wilson will only get better, Terry Grant is quickly making his mark, and the defense is coming around. The season is looking better all the time. Georgia won’t roll over, but UA will prevail.
