TUSCALOOSA | Daniel Hopper has resigned his position as the University of Alabama’s director of athletic marketing and promotions, approximately one month prior to the start of fall football practice.

With the marketing department already being restructured, school officials have yet to decide what to do with the position or a direction for finding a possible replacement.

Hopper, who oversaw the day-to-day marketing plans for all varsity programs, joined the staff in 1996 as a graduate assistant while working on his master’s degree in marketing, which he completed in 1997.

He served as assistant director before being promoted to director in 2000.

Hopper could not be reached at his Tuscaloosa home for comment.

The staff directory currently lists three assistant directors: Jennifer Martin, Matt Greathouse and Brent Hollingsworth.

Martin’s duties include trademark licensing, while Hollingsworth is the publications coordinator.

Additionally, Alabama also has an opening for a ticket director to replace Kristi Dyer, who moved to the Crimson Tide Foundation, which raises money to help support Tide athletics and facilities.

A search for Dyer’s replacement is ongoing.
